The details...

As a mom of two young girls, I try to keep my children physically active on a daily basis. Physical activity helps develop not only physical fitness and gross motor skills, but also cognitive, social and emotional coping skills. I see the positive impact daily physical activity makes on my children’s overall mood and ability to cope with evolving feelings throughout the day. For all these reasons, I am thrilled to be able to utilize the RRCA Kids Run the Nation program in the greater Syracuse area to promote physical fitness!

Kids Run the Nation is an organized youth running program dedicated to educating children ages 5-12 on the fundamentals of running. The program is broken up into 10 sessions (covered over 5-10 weeks), during which children will learn and practice basic running skills such as:

Goal setting Proper warm-up Stretching Pacing Running Form Nutrition/Hydration Running Safety Teamwork/Sportsmanship

At the end of the 10 sessions, children will get to participate in an organized race (0.5 mi to 1 mi distance) and take home their very own achievement medal! The goal is simple: engage with children early on to teach them the value physical fitness and running can bring to their overall lives while having a BLAST!
